Finding the right doctor can be a difficult task. There are plenty of options out there, especially for primary care, and it’s important to find someone you can trust with your medical needs. This video will explain how to find the right doctor for you.
The first step is to find out if the doctor is in-network and their location. A good resource for this is your insurance carrier’s website. They often have search engines to find nearby doctors in your zip code who accept the insurance coverage you have. You may also prefer working with a female or male nurse. Remember, it’s alright to choose someone who has the same sex if it makes you feel more comfortable during physical exams.
Create a list of about six doctors, and then weed some out. A good way to do this is to look up the doctor’s office online. Often, there will be pictures of the building, including the interior. You can see the state of the office and the reviews left by patients.
Finally, you need to call and check availability. Some doctor’s will have a full load of patients and be unable to provide adequate care for you. Call and see what their schedule looks like. For more information, check out the video above.
