Most women never experience any of the signs and symptoms of fibroids. These women live their lives as they always have, and may never even realize that they’ve developed small, benign tumors. Other women, however, need to carefully weigh their uterine fibroids treatment options, because their fibroids are causing them serious problems.
What sort of problems, you may wonder? Embarrassing, painful ones. Here are just a few of the worst symptoms of fibroid cysts.
Anemia.
One of the main reasons women often need to pursue uterine fibroid treatments is because of the abnormal menstrual bleeding they’ve developed. In some cases, the menstrual bleeding may become so heavy that they develop anemia, which can cause fatigue, weakness, an irregular heartbeat, shortness of breath, chest pain, dizziness, cognitive problems, cold hands and feet, and headache. Additionally, the menstrual bleeding may be so heavy that sanitary protection gets soaked through in a matter of 60 minutes, and on the days of heaviest flow, the women may not even be able to leave the house. When such heavy bleeding occurs, fibroid treatments become a necessity.
Bathroom Issues.
Some fibroids grow so large that they actually put pressure on the rectum, and the bladder. Consequently, fibroid patients may feel sensations of rectal fullness, and bladder fullness, causing them to feel like they have to go to the bathroom, even when they don’t. These fibroids also make it difficult to have bowel movement or empty their bladders.
Abdominal Swelling.
In some cases, fibroids can grow so large that they cause abdominal swelling. Some patients have had fibroids that have grown so large that they’re the approximate size of a cantaloupe. Some people have even asked such fibroid patients if they were pregnant. In such extreme cases, surgery is often needed to remove these fibroids.
These are just a few of the worst symptoms of fibroid cysts. If you suspect that you may be dealing with similar issues, talk to your doctor about fibroid treatments right away. If you have any questions, feel free to share in the comments.
