Most people make regular visits to the dentist. This is for good reason too. They will professionally clean your teeth.
They can also do x-rays and give you dental advice. However, there may be a reason to visit the dentist sooner. If you are feeling pain in your mouth, there could be something seriously wrong. For example, swollen and irritated gums could mean that you have gum disease. Further, an aching tooth in the back of your mouth may mean that you have tooth decay. If these symptoms persist, you should certainly see a dentist immediately.
Ideally, we want to prevent these issues before they occur. In other words, we want to be proactive in our approach to oral health. There are the standard practices of regularly brushing your teeth twice a day. However, you can do better. You could also use a fluoride rinse after brushing your teeth in the evening. You may also decide to use a Waterpik instead of normal floss. As far as your diet is concerned, consider eating less sugar and carbohydrates. All of these small changes will lead to big improvements in your oral health.
