Erectile dysfunction, or ED, is a common problem for men in their middle ages and older years. The main cause is blood flow issues, which is a common issue for older men, in general. For example, high blood pressure is an issue often associated with age. This article will explain some more about the causes of ED and erectile dysfunction treatment.
As mentioned above, cardiovascular disease is a common issue that affects both men and women as they age. Side effects from other surgeries and treatments are another cause of ED. For example, if a man is diagnosed with prostate cancer, another common illness, they may need to undergo radiation therapy. This can cause ED, too.
In general, an oral agent can be used to treat a man with difficulty obtaining and/or maintaining an erection. However, the oral agents work for about 50-70% of men, so there need to be other treatment modalities available.
Pretty much anything that enhances blood flow will help a man obtain and maintain an erection. Cardiovascular exercise, for example, is a great way to alleviate ED. Diet can also help. There are also medicines that can be injected, which sounds scary but works very well.
