Certain food items and drinks should be avoided before your surgery because they can cause an increase in bleeding and bruising during the procedure. Alcohol, aspirin, and herbal supplements should be stopped two weeks before surgery. Be sure to hydrate, avoid caffeine, and reduce your sodium intake in the days leading up to the rhinoplasty. Smoking and nicotine will cause worse scarring. If you choose to use anesthesia, you will be told to fast eight hours before the procedure. Aprepitant is often suggested to take to limit nausea after surgery.

A small clothing tip would be to wear a button-up top so that once you are home, you do not have to lift clothing over your face and the tender area. Your activity after surgery is extremely restricted for two weeks post-op. Leaving the hospital, you must have a responsible adult to drive you home. If you follow these simple tips, your rhinoplasty surgery should go smoothly!
